Concussions & Soccer

Soccer is the most concussed sport behind only football and hockey!

Concussions and Soccer: Treatment for Boys and Girls

We understand the passion and dedication soccer players have for the game. We’re equally passionate about helping athletes who suffer from the effects of a concussion.

Athletes who return to play without allowing their brain to heal first may be setting themselves up for serious long-term consequences. Every concussion is unique and and so are we. We prioritize your overall well-being and your return to play, using evidence-based protocols to guide your recovery every step of the way.

Moore MyoWorx is Denver’s beacon of hope in concussion treatment and we’ve welcomed soccer players from all over the country, providing a dedicated and successful treatment course where traditional methods have seen little effect. Consider these stats:

  • In the 2021-2022 school year, concussions made up 10.6% of all boys’ soccer injuries and 21.9% of injuries in girls’ soccer.

  • 2 out of 10 high school athletes who play contact sports (including soccer) will get a concussion this year.

  • Girls soccer players, in particular, have been found to be about as likely to suffer concussions as boys football players—and three times more likely than boys soccer players. They are also more likely to report concussion symptoms than men do.

  • In 2016, U.S. Soccer implemented new rules to improve head safety making heading no longer allowed during practice or game play for players 10 and younger.

“My normal daily life went away…the spark in me was gone.”

A concussion on the soccer field turned into daily headaches, nausea, depression, lost schooling, and a very frustrating journey looking for anyone who could give her life back.

Then she found MyoWorx.

I had a headache for a whole year before going to MyoWorx.

Effective Concussion Treatment: Get Back to Being You!

Our concussion treatment is the only approach that alleviates all four categories of concussion symptoms: Cognitive, Physical, Emotional and Sleep.

The "Return to Play" guidelines do not guarantee that your player is "healed" and ready for competition.

Here’s why our treatment approach is different:

  1. We include cognitive, vision, balance, strength and ROM testing

  2. We focus on a high frequency, short duration treatment protocol that gets quicker results

  3. Our treatment hands the power back to the individual and treatment team (including athletic trainers and your primary care provider)

  4. We prepares athletes to return to the field but also be more resilient in the future.

Our approach is evidence-based and has enabled 89% of our clients to reclaim their lives from the shadows of concussion including the following symptoms:

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Dizziness and balance problems

  • Fatigue that isn’t alleviated by rest

  • Difficulty with memory and concentration

  • Insomnia and other sleep disturbances

  • Increased sensitivity to light and noise

  • Blurred or double vision

  • Irritability and mood swings

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)

  • Changes in taste and smell

  • Slowed cognitive processing
