The Importance of Building Endurance to Maintain Proper Muscle Release

Building Endurance for Proper Muscle Release

How many times a day do you lift your arms over your head? To put on a shirt, to grab a cup from the cupboard, to wave to someone, to brush your hair? These can seem like negligible actions, but doing them at least 100 times a day can really add up!

Without the proper strength in the appropriate areas, the muscles will fatigue super quickly and get sore, causing a further increase in tightness and symptoms.

While stretches along with our revolutionary TM20 device work to release muscle tightness, the muscles themselves will not remain released if they do not have the proper strength. Because the muscles have been under chronic stress and tightness for so long, they’ve become extremely weak. Without the proper strength to maintain the appropriate release, the muscles will tighten back up and can increase symptoms. This is why building endurance is absolutely vital!

During our treatment, your provider will work with you to build endurance in the areas that are needed. The complete endurance building program lasts 2–3 months, and will begin during treatment. However, it is important to note that the endurance program will continue after treatment in order to see long lasting results.

Long Term Recovery from Chronic Pain is a Process

Additionally, we have to balance building endurance slowly to not increase soreness that can exacerbate symptoms. It’s important to communicate consistently with your providers with how you’re feeling so we can adjust your endurance progression program to your needs. The process can seem slower than expected, but understand it’s on purpose! If you try to progress too fast, your symptoms can get worse. But if you are progressing slower than needed, your symptoms will not improve.

Your providers will work with you to find the perfect balance and keep you on track to building your strength and endurance to keep your muscles released and your symptoms down!

Once you build up your endurance to where it needs to be, you will see a long lasting improvement in range of motion and symptom management.

It is important to note that symptoms will not stay away forever, but now you have the tools to manage them when they come back!

And after releasing the muscles and building endurance, the onset of symptoms should be much less frequent and much less severe.
