Living Well With Parkinson’s Disease

How Moore Myoworx Helps You Stay Strong, Mobile, and Independent

If you or someone you love is living with Parkinson’s disease, you know how quickly familiar tasks can start to feel challenging. Movements slow down. Stiffness appears without warning. Your balance may feel less steady. Even speaking or expressing yourself can take more effort

All these changes can make everyday life feel harder than it should. However, managing Parkinson’s disease is not something you have to figure out on your own. In fact, there are several meaningful ways to support your body and mind as you navigate the condition.

At Moore Myoworx, we offer customized, comprehensive care plans to help individuals with Parkinson’s disease feel steadier, more capable, and more confident in their daily routines.

What Makes Parkinson’s Disease So Challenging

Parkinson’s is a progressive condition that affects the brain cells that control smooth, coordinated movement. As these cells decline, the signals between the brain and the body become less precise, leading to several symptoms:

  • Slower movement during walking or reaching
  • Muscle tightness that makes motion feel restricted
  • Tremors in the hands, arms, or legs
  • Trouble keeping balance in crowded or busy places
  • Softer speech or reduced facial expression
  • Changes in swallowing
  • Cognitive changes such as slower thinking, reduced attention, or shifts in mood or motivation

At a neurological level, Parkinson’s disease is closely tied to reduced dopamine production, particularly in areas such as the substantia nigra and midbrain. These regions play a major role in movement initiation, sleep regulation, speech, and motor control. When dopamine release is disrupted, symptoms like freezing episodes, poor sleep quality, low energy, and speech changes can become more pronounced and can also amplify other Parkinson’s-related challenges.

These symptoms can make life feel unpredictable. One day might go smoothly, and the next day feels far more difficult. This inconsistency can be discouraging and tiring, especially when you are trying your best to stay active and independent.

How Moore Myoworx Supports People With Parkinson’s Disease

Our goal is simple: we want to help you feel and function as well as possible, so you can continue to enjoy what life has to offer.

To accomplish this, we look closely at how your muscles, nervous system, breathing patterns, balance systems, and movement habits interact. This provides a clear picture of what is helping you and what is getting in your way, allowing us to create a personalized care plan tailored to your specific needs.

A key part of our approach is using targeted movement and muscle activation to help increase blood flow to critical areas of the brain involved in Parkinson’s disease, including the substantia nigra and midbrain. While we work to improve circulation throughout the entire body, we can also strategically influence blood flow through specific arterial pathways by activating particular muscle groups. This intentional approach supports neurological signaling and helps combat symptoms related to reduced dopamine release, freezing episodes, sleep disruption, and speech difficulties.

During your time with us, we’ll adjust every part of your plan to match your symptoms, energy levels, and personal goals. That way, you feel more in control of your body and your day.

Proven Strategies We Use to Help You Move and Feel Better

Amplitude-Based Movement Practice

  • Encourages bigger, stronger, more purposeful motions. Many of our patients notice improvements in walking patterns, arm swing, and facial expressions.

Task-Focused Movement Training

  • Targets real daily activities, such as standing from a chair, stepping off a curb, and reaching for a high shelf. The goal is to make everyday tasks feel easier and safer.

Balance and Coordination Work

  • Strengthens your sense of stability and reduces the risk of falls, which is a major concern for people with Parkinson’s.

Strength and Postural Training

  • Supports better alignment and reduces the feeling of heaviness or effort during movement.

Breathing and Vocal Exercises

  • Helps improve volume, clarity, and stamina during conversation.

Cognitive Motor Drills

  • Pairs thinking tasks with movement to sharpen reaction time and improve multitasking.

TM20 Therapy: A Targeted Approach to Muscle Relaxation and Healing

At our clinic, we’re proud to use the patented Moore MyoWorx TM20 device as part of our proprietary, evidence-based treatment approach. The TM20 is FDA-approved and designed to safely and effectively support muscle relaxation, increase local blood flow, and prepare the body for optimal healing.

The TM20 works by delivering a precise sequence of timed electrical frequency changes directly to distressed or injured muscle tissue. These specific frequencies help decrease excessive muscle tension and improve circulation to the area. As blood flow increases, important biochemical changes occur within the muscle, helping fatigued or injured tissue recover more efficiently.

What makes this treatment especially impactful is its ability to restore long-term control of blood flow to affected muscles. By addressing these underlying biochemical and muscular changes, the TM20 allows muscles to fully relax, often something they’ve been unable to do on their own. This relaxation is a critical step that prepares the body for the next phase of care, including therapeutic exercise and movement-based rehabilitation.

Moore MyoWorx goes beyond managing symptoms alone. This internationally recognized approach focuses on healing the underlying injury through a comprehensive process that includes a detailed assessment, in-clinic treatment, and guided at-home participation. The TM20 plays a key role in accelerating the effectiveness of these carefully designed exercises.

Research, including studies related to traumatic brain injury and dizziness, supports the use of soft tissue release, specialized electrotherapy, and exercise as part of recovery. By integrating the TM20 into care, we’re able to empower patients to take an active role in their healing journey – helping them progress, regain control, and move forward with confidence.
