Nerve Pain Doesn’t Have to Call the Shots
Burning. Tingling. Electric shocks. Nerve pain can feel very different from the muscle aches and lingering soreness most people think of when they hear the word “pain.” It can also be more alarming, especially when it sticks around.
Fortunately, the team at Moore Myoworx has experience managing persistent nerve-related pain. Our approach involves looking beyond the site of your discomfort to help you understand and address the factors contributing to your symptoms. This whole person-approach makes it easier to get back to being you.

Why Nerve Pain Feels So Different
Most of us have experienced muscular pain at some point. It develops when your muscles or surrounding tissues become strained or irritated, leading to feelings of soreness, achiness, or tenderness. Generally, you’ll only feel it in and around the affected area.
Nerve pain (also called neuropathic pain) works differently.
Your nerves carry messages between your brain and the rest of your body. If a nerve becomes irritated or injured in some way, those signals are altered, leading to several tell-tale symptoms:
- Burning or searing pain
- Tingling or pins-and-needles sensations
- Numbness or altered sensation
- Sharp, shooting, or electric-like pain
- Increased sensitivity to touch or temperature
- Pain that travels along an arm or leg
- Weakness or changes in coordination
You may have heard of sciatica, a common type of nerve pain that travels from the lower back or buttock into the leg, often due to irritation or involvement of a spinal nerve root. Peripheral neuropathy is another common example. It involves damage or dysfunction affecting peripheral nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, and may cause symptoms such as burning, numbness, or tingling in the hands and feet.

When Nerve Pain Is Hard to Shake
If nerve pain goes unaddressed, it can sometimes alter how your nervous system processes sensory information, making it increasingly sensitive. In some people, sensations that normally would not hurt may become painful, while mildly uncomfortable sensations can feel much stronger than expected.
This experience can be frustrating, particularly when symptoms are difficult to explain or do not neatly match what appears on a test or scan. However, your pain symptoms are real–managing them just requires a different, whole-person approach.
Looking Beyond the Location of Your Pain
At Moore Myoworx, we know that managing nerve pain means identifying the specific factors contributing to your pain. That’s why we’ll always kick off care with a detailed assessment that looks at key factors like:
- Mobility
- Strength
- Movement and functional abilities
- Sensation
- Coordination
- Neuromuscular function
We then use this information to develop an individualized plan that meets your specific needs. Throughout the process, we ensure your care progresses based on your body’s response, as a gradual approach is important for people dealing with chronic nerve pain.

Can Tight Muscles Trigger Nerve Symptoms?
Have you ever dealt with muscle tightness that’s accompanied by seemingly unrelated symptoms, like numbness or burning, radiating pain? If so, then you’re likely dealing with nerve involvement, and it may be time to look beyond the muscle restriction itself.
Where Muscle Tightness and Nerves Meet
Nerves travel out from the spinal cord through spaces between and around your muscles, joints, and other tissues. If a nerve becomes irritated or compressed by surrounding structures, it can lead to nerve irritation or compression–hence the strange pain signals.
Several factors can contribute to this issue, including swelling, injuries, and spinal disc problems. Muscle tightness is another contributor. One example is piriformis syndrome, where structures around a small muscle deep in the buttock may irritate or compress the sciatic nerve. This can produce symptoms extending into the leg.
However, there is another part of the relationship. Nerve irritation can change how muscles function, and persistent pain may lead you to guard an area or move differently. As a result, some muscles may become tense, while others may become weaker or less coordinated.
This can create a cycle in which nerve symptoms and muscle problems influence each other.

At Moore Myoworx, specialized therapy considers how the muscles and the nervous system work together to help you find relief. Our goal isn’t simply to loosen a tight muscle, but to address all of the factors contributing to your symptoms so we can help you restore better function.

Miracle Red Juice
Bright, refreshing, and packed with vibrant produce, this Miracle Red Juice is a delicious way to enjoy beets, carrots, apples, celery, citrus, and ginger in every sip. Blend up this colorful juice for a fresh, flavorful boost that’s perfect for starting your day or enjoying as an afternoon pick-me-up.
Ingredients:
- 2 large beets
- 4 long carrots
- 2 apples
- 6 celery stalks
- 2 limes or lemons
- 2 inches of ginger
Instructions:
Prepare beets, carrots, apples, celery, limes (or lemons) and ginger by chopping into smaller pieces before placing into a juicer. As the skin of a beet is packed with antioxidants and nutrients, it is recommended to leave the skin on the beet. Beet skin and lemon peel (if using) have strong flavors, so you could also prepare half with skin and half peeled to adjust to the flavor, or simply peel all if preferred. Apples can be any color or variety. Do not peel the ginger, which you will add to taste as ginger can be spicy. After all ingredients are added to the juicer, blend until juiced and smooth. Drink juice as soon as possible to obtain all benefits of the antioxidants and nutrients. Miracle Red Juice can be absorbed more easily on an empty stomach. Drink one glass every other day or as needed.
